Meet Art Neidich, CBO

Having grown up in a family with diverse backgrounds, Art was inspired to follow his grandfather’s passion for creating something from nothing. This passion became the foundation of his career in construction. Art began his journey in construction with framing in 1982. However, he quickly realized that hands-on skills alone were not enough to meet his high standards. Eager to elevate his craft, he sought out every educational opportunity available, enrolling in classes that enhanced his knowledge and refined his expertise. Over time, he collaborated with professionals from various trades, gaining valuable insights into coating applications, tile, concrete, brick, roofing, waterproofing, plumbing, electrical systems, and even occasional mechanical work.

Interestingly, Art viewed every “Red Tag” – a notice of code violation – not as a setback but as a learning opportunity. Each one sparked research and a quest to understand the underlying issues, ensuring that he never repeated the same mistake. This relentless pursuit of excellence became his passion and led him to earn his Texas Real Estate Commission Professional Property Inspectors License in 2009.

Over the years, Art accumulated vast knowledge and hands-on experience in both residential and commercial construction, including new builds and remodeling projects. His time as a high-end residential remodeler honed his ability to innovate, explore new technologies, and constantly strive for improvements.

As his career progressed, Art moved into management roles, serving as a project manager and later as a production manager. His decade-long tenure with a premier roofing and waterproofing company significantly enhanced his troubleshooting and forensic analysis skills, further fueling his commitment to achieving the highest quality standards.

Having performed hundreds of home inspections, Art eventually joined a respected construction consulting firm specializing in residential and multifamily quality and code inspections for builders. After completing thousands of inspections over nearly five years, he was recommended to assist a municipality struggling with permitting and inspection challenges.

Almost seven years later, Art continues to serve as Chief Building Official for a remarkable municipality. His achievements include earning 15 ICC certifications, the Residential Combination Inspector designation, and the prestigious Certified Building Official credential. He is on track to complete his Combination Certification and plans to achieve the Master Code Professional designation within the next year.

Art’s passion for building code compliance is infectious. He thrives on encouraging others to embrace this passion through learning and exploration. This dedication inspired the creation of QCodeStudy.com, a platform designed to develop well-rounded career courses for aspiring and experienced building department professionals. The site also offers IRC Exam Study courses to support the growth of its community.

Looking ahead, QCodeStudy.com plans to expand rapidly, with near-term goals including the ability to provide CEUs as an ICC Education Provider. Art and his team are excited to share this journey with their community and welcome ideas and feedback to help everyone grow together.
